FlexMotion

FlexMotion

FlexMotion, a Multimedia Player for Embedded Devices

FlexMotion is a multimedia player that implements rich user interfaces for mobile phones and other embedded devices. FlexMotion is implemented in the Java™ programming language and supports multiple platforms. You can dynamically change the UI or append actions for different contents. FlexMotion is currently being used by a major magazine publisher, and we also supply it to embedded device manufacturers, content holders, and service providers.

The Advent of the True Mobile Contents Market

With movies at its core, the rich media contents market that is aimed primarily at mobile phones, but also at other mobile and ubiquitous computing devices, is becoming more and more prevalent. However, there are only a few examples of successful movie delivery businesses, and the truth is that up until now such services have not met users' needs in terms of quality and usability.

FlexMotion improves usability with its rich user interfaces and drastically reduces your content-creation expenses (those associated with creating customized players) by generating dynamic user interfaces.

Features

  • FlexMotion is implemented in the Java programming language and supports multiple platforms.
  • Uses eflow's Scanline proprietary codec that produces incredibly high-resolution images when compared with existing movies for mobile devices.
  • Supports not only movies, but also magazines, novels, music, etc.
  • Provides rich user interfaces that enable intuitive operation (similar to the user interface on Apple's iPhone™).
  • Includes a scripting engine, allowing to dynamically generate user interfaces (customized players).

FlexMotion's Benefits

1. Equipped with a High-Resolution Codec Designed from the User's Point of View
  • The image quality of movies for mobile devices is not stable because developers are still using existing codecs as their starting point.
  • eflow's proprietary codec that is included in FlexMotion was developed with the single purpose to realize high-quality images on mobile devices that have low-power CPUs and small amounts of memory even when such devices are connected to slow and unstable networks.
  • Its quality and excellent presentation capability have already been proven through FlexMotion's use in a famous Japanese fashion magazine's mobile Web site.
2. Usability
  • Compared with a browser, FlexMotion drastically improves usability.
  • You can expand your target audience, even if that audience consists of people who do not have experience operating mobile devices.
3. Reduces the Load on Service Providers
  • You can easily create the delivery platform because all you need is a Web server.
  • Data preparation and management is easy because you only need to use a single data set to deliver content to various terminals that have different resolutions.

Deployment in Embedded Devices

We are deploying the know-how that we have fostered through the development of FlexMotion for mobile phones in embedded devices.

  • Because FlexMotion is implemented in the Java programming language (we are also developing a version that is written in C) and supports multiple platforms, we can shorten the time that it takes to implement FlexMotion in embedded devices.
  • FlexMotion is equipped with our proprietary codec that makes incredibly high-resolution movies a reality, especially when compared with existing movies for mobile devices.
  • FlexMotion supports not only movies, but also magazines, novels, music, etc.
  • FlexMotion provides rich user interfaces that enable intuitive operation.
  • FlexMotion is equipped with a scripting engine, aallowing to dynamically generate user interfaces (customized players).
