Android™ Platform
High-Performance Android™ Environment

The Android environment, Google Inc.'s software platform for mobile phones, is currently basking in the limelight as an innovative, open platform and new foundation that tightly integrates with Google's services. eflow provides products and solutions to help developpers address some of the main challenges brought forth in the implementation of the Android platform.
Optimized Android Environment for Embedded Devices
By enhancing the core modules of the Android environment, eflow offers the following dramatic improvements:
Enhanced Performance
As speed enhancement techniques such as the use of a Just-in-Time (JIT) compiler are not implemented in the Android platform, the issue of raw execution speed still remains. For that reason, and in current circumstances, such workarounds like the use of native code may be required. eflow provides a dramatically optimized Android environment that incorporates various proprietary speed enhancement techniques including the use of a top-performance JIT compiler.
Enriched User Interface
Although there is no pre-defined framework for developing rich user interfaces (UI) in the Android environment, eflow provides customizable, rich user interfaces that can seamlessly integrate movie playback, comic book or magazine browsing, and other similar advanced interaction models, to further enhance the user experience.
Reduced Footprint
The original Android environment is a vast system, and this effectively reduces the size of the application area in device memory, making it unsuitable –if unmodified- for installation on memory-constrained embedded devices. eflow provides a slimmed-down and customized Android environment in which the minimum essential functions have been retained and are carefully fine-tuned.
Extending the Android Platform beyond Mobile Phones
Currently, the Android platform is primarily targeted at mobile phones and smartphones, but its capabilities have lately created an overwhelming appeal for other categories of devices. However, whereas it may be suitable for mobile phones or smartphones, which are high-end devices, the open source Android platform – as provided – may not be well-suited for other embedded devices that present strong limitations and discrepancies in microprocessor, memory, and screen real-estate resources.
